Gamblins Solvent-Free Gel is the only available solvent-free painting medium able to support such a wide range of painting techniques with minimal compromise in color. When working with Gamblins Solvent-Free Gel medium, additional flow and transparency will be yielded when combined with oil colors. This gel medium provides moderately fast drying rates while increasing gloss, yet firm enough to hold the shape of your brush strokes.
Moderation is advised when using Gamblins Solvent-Free Gel with oil colors. Per Gamblins recommendation, avoid adding more than 25% by volume. To avoid wrinkling, apply mixtures of this gel medium and oil colors in thin layers.
Gamblin produces their Solvent-Free Gel medium using alkyd resin and natural, raw safflower oil and contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates.
