Cretacolor Pastel Carré Hard Pastels are unfired, oil-free pastel crayons with full pigmentation for brilliant color and special lightfastness. The colors can be mixed, smudged, and painted with water, allowing both traditional pastel work and watercolor-style techniques. Fixation is necessary after use.

Their square shape provides broad sides for covering larger areas while the edges produce sharp lines and precise contours. They can also be combined with Cretacolor Pastel Crayon Pencils and other materials.
