Cretacolor Pastel Carré Hard Pastels are unfired, oil-free pastel crayons made with full pigmentation for brilliant color and special lightfastness. The colors can be mixed, smudged, and painted with water, giving artists flexibility for both traditional dry pastel work and water-based techniques. Fixation is necessary after use.

The square Carré profile provides broad sides for covering larger areas of color, while its edges can be used for sharp lines and precise contours. Pastel Carré can also be combined with Cretacolor Pastel Crayon Pencils and other materials.
