GOLDEN ABSORBENT GROUND

GOLDEN Absorbent Ground is a permanent acrylic ground, designed for stain and watercolor-type applications. Ready to use, this light-fast and flexible ground may be applied using a brush, roller, or squeegee. GOLDEN Absorbent Ground should be applied to porous surfaces, with a bit of tooth, which can be achieved using GOLDEN Gesso prior to the Absorbent Ground layer. 

Per GOLDENs recommendation, their Absorbent Ground formula should NOT be used as an alternative to gesso, but as an additional layer over GOLDEN Gesso when used on canvas. When applied over a gessoed canvas, GOLDEN Absorbent Ground gives artists a wash and staining type effect instead of staining raw canvas.

Along with a gessoed canvas, GOLDENs Absorbent Ground may be applied to other mediums such as hardboard or wood to create a more porous, paper-like surface, resulting in high levels of absorbency once fully dry. When sealed properly, GOLDEN Absorbent Ground is not required to be preserved under glass, however additional protection may be necessary due to its delicate nature.
